The Zimbabwe Mission definitely needs more help. In a country located right below Zambia and right above Africa, the country is severely suffering. The economy has just about collapsed, and most citizens suffer in abject poverty. Food shortages are rampant.
The Zimbabwe Mission project is especially interested in giving these people help. They focus mostly on the orphans. This project are the operators and builders of the Heather Chimhoga Orphan Care Center. One of their goals is to provide 2 nutritious meals to a thousand orphans and preschool aged children each day.
A great majority of the children they serve also suffer from severe medical diseases such as AIDS. They have been able to get a full-time nurse who is able to help with many of the children's medical requirements. With various groups donating both medicine and medical help, the mortality rate of the children has decreased. However, they could still use more medical supplies.
Economic and policy restrictions have both caused it to be harder to receive items donated to them. Because of this, they are working hard to try growing more locally produced food with the use of on-site gardens. They have also found a use for the moringa trees which provide needed nutrients like calcium, vitamin C, protein, and vitamin A.
One important goal is paying for each child's required school fee. A co-op is operated to supply school uniforms that each child must wear. Another goal is to supply any necessary school supplies and to keep the schools and libraries in good working order. They have helped with the drilling of wells to make sure a fresh, clean supply of water is available. They also work with many local people to create money making projects.
Most places suffering with severe economic problems usually are short on funds. They are no exception. Even though they have partnerships with various churches to help with their need of food and supplies, they often encounter difficulties in receiving these goods. Nutritional foods like rice or beans are often very difficult to both buy and get shipped to them.
Various schools are trying to help by donating old school furniture and computers for their use. Many also hold clothing and/or food drives. Some focus primarily on getting the necessary personal hygiene items that are needed. Even with this help, they are in need of even more things.
Even with the many generous gifts of various organizations for the Zimbabwe Mission, they still encounter massive problems. Once donated, they often have difficulty getting the items shipped to their location. A lot of the sea shipping crates cost about ten thousand dollars or more to ship. Often needed donated items sit for long periods of time in storage, because no one has the money to pay for the shipping. Funds are needed to get the donations to them. Many very loving caregivers give up their time to help these children. We who are more fortunate, should at least be willing to donate to this very worthy cause. They definitely need our help.
