This basically means being responsible for the life of one of the orphans who will be the recipient of all your monthly sponsorships. From this, they can benefit with daily meals, clothes, medical care, an education and many more.
That part of the deal also means correspondence. It may not be frequent, since most kids will be able to write to their sponsors at a rate of maybe two to four times in a year. This is a nice way for both parties to get to know each other and maybe from there, something can be learned from their respective lives.
Those that are personally involved are usually made to undergo certain missions and journeys for various reasons. Africa is a big place, and it comes as no surprise that these programs would stretch themselves across the land to reach out to as many as they can, although truth be told, it would be impossible to cover everything and everyone. Events may be organized to keep the children happy and busy with themselves.
