I enjoy items which seem to display just a bit of geekiness and it's something that I have no urge to control. I like to retain a bit of my childhood for nostalgia sake and I hope that I am not the only one who wants to do this. I've also seen that these aspects of my youth can surprisingly be tied back to New York in some way or another. I enjoy them, of course, but if I were to witness them in real life while riding on a city bike, I'd fear crashing out of sheer amazement.
It's strange because recently I had this dream where I was cruising on my city bike, simply enjoy the sights as I passed by several buildings and businesses. All of a sudden I look up and I see this red and blue-clothed superhero swinging across the skies, from one skyscraper to another, in order to evade what appeared to be missiles. It seemed like I had just found myself dead center in the middle of a Spider-Man chase and not even a bike recommended by authorities like Linus Bike could brush that off. It was certainly a strange dream to be had but one nonetheless.
After that dream came to me, part of me wondered, "are there other figures within New York that could interrupt my slumber?" Well, my mind instantly went to the Ghostbusters and how much commotion they seemed to cause in the city. I don't think I have to mention the big battle with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from the first movie, for example. If I found myself in such a scenario, I think a close cleanup would be in order for me and my bike as well.
For those of you who have been heavy into cartoons as children during the late 80's and perhaps even beyond, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were on your radar. Even though they are still famed, I think that my love for them as a boy transitioned. What happened if they found themselves in the real-life environment of New York? If it came down to me wanting an autograph while the Turtles were combating the Foot Clan, I think I'd be riding in the other way as quickly as possible.
I don't think I can make the claim that my dreams are normal since I think anything else would be more rooted in reality than the images I conjure in my sleep. However, do many of us actually have slumbers with images that make sense? My childhood is full of cartoons and those images seem to come through when I am resting. If I found myself stuck in the city during those times, I can only hope that my reliable city bike can see me through them.
